The first Europa stamp of Austria has been issued in 1959, the year of the founding of the CEPT (Conférence européenne des postes et télégraphes). This first stamp didn't represent the same symbol the other 7 countries decided to depict, neither was the one of the next year in 1960. Then Austria issued a Europa stamp every 5 year to celebrate anniversaries of the CEPT (1964, 1969). Only since 1973 Austria issues a Europa stamp on a regular basis. Austria is also the only country who issued a single stamp each time.
