Luxembourg was one of the 6 member states of the Europa stamp collection with the other two Benelux countries Belgium and the Netherlands but also with France, Italy and Germany. Their first two series of 1956 and 1957 are still some of the most expensive stamps of all the collection. French is the administrative language of the country that's why the stamps have French text on them even if German and Luxembourgian are also national language.
